Papilio cresphontes - Giant Swallowtail


I found this caterpillar in my greenhouse (Latimer, MS) on a Lemon Tree.

When disturbed, extends orange-red osmeteria from behind head and emits sour unpleasant odor.

We can see the caterpillars and the butterflies, but we always miss the chrysalis. They are all over our passion flower vines.
